Premiering a new piece commissioned by INA grm for the acousmonium at Akousma May 16th in Paris.

On July 9th in Turku, there will be an evening dedicated to the work of Annea Lockwood at the Sibelius Museum. Together with Annea, Livia Schweizer and Mark Reid Bulatovič, we will perform her Jitterbug piece alongside two shorter tape pieces.

My new record Touch This Fragrant Surface of Earth is out September 12 on Fönstret. LP and digital available via Bandcamp, Anost, Soundohm to mention a few. US distro via Clandestine.

Visiting Cloud (Two Translations): two instrumental adaptations of electroacoustic pieces in collaboration with Blutwurst ensemble. CD on Another Timbre November 17th 2025.

Marja Ahti / Manja Ristić - Transference - duo album for Erstwhile Records is out August 11th.

The new SPECTRES V ‘Diffusion’ publication is featuring my essay ‘A Way In’ reflecting on working with spatialising sound.

ABOUT

Marja Ahti (b. 1981, Luleå) is a Swedish-Finnish sound artist working in composition, installation and cross-disciplinary performance. Working with field recordings, sounds of everyday objects and materials, analog synthesis, digital processing and acoustic instrumentation she creates precise musical narratives with organically unfolding sequences of details and textures. Her patiently evolving electro-acoustic constructions suggest a poetic realm between the acousmatic and the documentaristic, between abstraction and the deeply familiar. 

Ahti is currently based in Turku, Finland. She is active in the duo Ahti & Ahti with her partner Niko-Matti Ahti, in the artist/organizer collective Himera and in collaborative projects with Judith Hamann, John McCowen, Manja Ristić and Mikko Kuorinki.
